Are Your Fabrics Pre-Shrunk or Sanforised?Updated 10 months ago
Yes, all our fabrics are sanforised, except for our discontinued leather and vegan leather options.
Sanforisation is a finishing step in fabric manufacturing where the fabric undergoes mechanical (and sometimes heat) treatments to pre-shrink it before we cut and sew the sofa covers. This ensures that our fabrics typically shrink only 1-3% (or none at all) after the first wash at home, as opposed to the up to 15% shrinkage seen in raw or non-sanforised fabrics.
Natural fabrics such as pure cotton or linen are more susceptible to shrinking, making sanforisation essential. Synthetic fabrics, however, are less likely to shrink, so this process is less important for them.
Pro-tip: If you find your sofa covers are slightly loose when first installed, give them a wash in cold water. This can help them fit better.
